It is mainly installed in high-rise buildings in areas prone to disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons. When relative displacements occur between the upper and lower floors of a building during a typhoon or an earthquake, the viscous damping wall can convert the kinetic energy generated by the building into heat energy, thus achieving the purpose of energy dissipation and shock absorption. Since the viscous damping wall is a velocity-dependent damper without stiffness, it will not change the inherent dynamic characteristics of the structure during operation. It only provides additional damping for the structure. The damping force-displacement hysteresis curve is full and resembles a rectangle, endowing it with stable dynamic characteristics and a strong energy dissipation capacity.
