Viscoelastic damper

The metal composite damper takes advantage of the viscoelastic materials which can not only dissipate energy but also have a certain reset function, organically combining the functions of lead-viscoelastic dampers, lead dampers and viscoelastic dampers. The metal composite damper has a strong energy dissipation capacity, with a loss factor reaching 60% - 70%. Its hysteresis curve has a full area, it possesses the reset ability, works stably, is safe and reliable in use, and does not need to be replaced. The metal composite damper is mainly composed of a lead core and viscoelastic materials. It dissipates energy through the shear hysteresis deformation of the viscoelastic materials after the lead undergoes plastic deformation caused by shear or extrusion yielding.

It mainly relies on the hysteretic energy dissipation characteristics of viscoelastic materials to increase the damping of the structure and reduce the dynamic response of the structure. It has a simple structure, is economical and practical. Generally, it does not change the form of the structure, nor does it require external energy input to provide control force. It can dissipate energy even under relatively small vibration conditions and can be used for both seismic and wind-induced vibration control of structures simultaneously.

It is generally installed at positions where relative deformation can occur, such as in diagonal braces, herringbone supports, beam-column joints, on the bottom chords of trusses or between adjacent buildings. When displacement occurs between structural floors, the viscoelastic damper will generate shear hysteretic deformation, dissipate the input vibration energy and reduce the vibration response of the structure.
